Environment
To us, good things start close to home. We are greening G+T. Following firm wide consultations, we have established a G+T Green Team to create, implement and to help monitor a Sustainability Policy.
We recognise the significance of understanding the environmental impact of our business and our clients’ businesses.
Within our firm we have a Green Team, comprising staff throughout the firm. They spread the message of using less, acting more.

They are ambassadors for our Sustainability and Sustainable Procurement Policies.
Those policies commit us to assessing environmental risks and incorporate them within the Gilbert + Tobin overall risk management framework.
The Green Team works on a number projects to help reduce our footprint on the environment, to raise staff awareness of sustainability and to connect how we conserve resources at home with how we behave at work.
We have now developed an Action Plan for continual improvement of our environmental performance with strong targets. We purchase 50% accredited Green Power and we have reduced our use of resources but there is still room for improvement. We continue to monitor and record our water, energy, and paper consumption as well as our travel patterns.
We have developed a procurement tool to help our staff to manage our own supply chain consistent with our Sustainability and Sustainable Procurement Policies, and to lead our supply chain to more sustainable outcomes. If you are a supplier and you have questions, please email email@gtlaw.com.au.
We are an Organisational Stakeholder in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) an internationally recognised reporting framework. We are currently preparing our first report under the GRI across a wide range of indicators.
As a CitySwitch Signatory we are committed to improving our office energy efficiency. We have committed to achieve and maintain a 4 star accredited NABERS Energy tenancy rating. Currently we have obtained 3.5 star rating. Administered nationally by the Department of Environment and Climate Change, the NABERS tool rates the energy efficiency of buildings and offices. With the average tenancy performing at 2.5 stars, a 4 star commitment means we would be at least 20% more efficient than the general commercial tenant market.
