Gilbert + Tobin comes out on top at Australasia Women in Business Law Awards
17th August 2012
Gilbert + Tobin has won four awards at the inaugural Euromoney Legal Media Group Australasia Women in Business Law Awards held in Sydney last night, including Best Australasian Firm for Women in Business Law and Most Innovative Firm, as well as two individual categories.
The individual awards, which recognise influential and leading professionals in a particular area of law were awarded to:
- Gina Cass-Gottlieb (Competition/Antitrust); and
- Sheila McGregor (TMT).
The Australasia Women in Business Law Awards aim to recognise the best initiatives for gender diversity, innovation, minority women, mentoring, work-life balance, pro bono work and talent management, as well as outstanding individual achievement.
Gilbert +Tobin Managing Partner Danny Gilbert said the firm was delighted by the recognition.
“Our women partners are leading the field in their areas of specialty and make up 36% of our partnership. We have never needed quotas or targets. We rely on our culture (which among other things is a meritocracy) and our strong development programs for this leading result.”
“In an industry where flexible work practices are a significant challenge we are proud to have 25% of our lawyers working flexibly. We continue to promote successful flexible work practices and support our talented women through the lifecycle of their careers. For this reason we enjoy a depth of female talent across the firm.”
