“Fantastic to deal with” and “highly responsive”. Chambers Asia Pacific 2011

Our approach

Gilbert + Tobin’s Construction team provides specialist legal advice on all aspects of construction law from the inception of a project through to completion, as well as on all forms of dispute resolution.

We advise the full range of participants including owners, investors, developers, financiers, consultants, project sponsors and government agencies.  Like our clients, we maintain a commercial perspective in all our work, providing creative legal solutions to complex problems. We work collaboratively and are accustomed to becoming a fully integrated member of our client’s team.

Our Construction team is highly experienced in corporate and property advisory, acquisitions, partnerships and joint ventures, property management and project finance.

We have particular expertise in the construction of technology buildings, such as data centre facilities and also in the renewable energy space having advised our clients in the financing, construction, connection and operation of biomass plants, wind farms and solar energy fields (both thermal and photovoltaic). The Construction team’s clients include technology providers, Big Four Banks, first tier contractors, publicly listed developers and renewable energy companies.

Our Construction team has the depth of experience and level of support to successfully handle large scale construction disputes for clients.  We have acted in complex construction disputes in Courts, Tribunals, Mediations, Arbitrations, Expert Determinations and Reference hearings.

Our knowledge of the Security of Payment regimes in Australia is exceptional and we have acted in numerous adjudications in Australia.

In the latest editions of Chambers and Legal 500, Gilbert + Tobin is listed as a recommended firm for our construction expertise.
