Inviting and embracing difference in our people is embedded in Gilbert + Tobin’s DNA.

Women in Leadership

We are proud of the fact that 33% of G+T’s partnership is female – more than any other major Australian law firm. A very high proportion of our firm’s leadership team are also female and women are represented on our board

Employer of Choice for Gender Equality

In 2015, we received an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality citation from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency. While Gilbert + Tobin has been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Women in the past, this prestigious new citation substantially raises the expected level of performance on gender equality, diversity and inclusion.

We analyse gender pay equity annually, undertake a biannual diversity audit, and conduct unique programs to educate and build awareness on important issues such as diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias.

Work flexibility

Flexibility is beneficial to our firm and our people, leading to increased performance and productivity, and the retention and engagement of experienced people. Around a quarter of our people currently work part-time or take advantage of flexible work arrangements, ranging from part-time work, to job sharing and remote working opportunities.

We look out for our people’s health and wellbeing by providing fresh fruit daily on each floor, fitness activities, corporate gym rates, and in Sydney an in-house café, which is a great place to take a break.

At Gilbert + Tobin, we are committed to employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in our firm as part of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). At the heart of our RAP is a commitment to increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians among our staff.

OUT is Gilbert + Tobin’s LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex) and allies group. OUT’s objective is to ensure the firm continues to celebrate diversity, including for all LGBTI staff, as a fundamental value of the firm.

Gilbert + Tobin is a proud member of Pride in Diversity, Australia’s leading workplace program for inclusion of LGBTI employees.
