G+T helps Transport for NSW create a world-class system to ease congestion and improve customer journeys
Gilbert + Tobin has advised Transport for NSW (TfNSW) on the acquisition of a new transport management system as part of the NSW Government’s Intelligent Congestion Management Program.
With a growing population, earlier this year the NSW Government announced that it would be undertaking an unprecedented level of investment in transport infrastructure and services as part of its 2018-2038 State Infrastructure Strategy.
This system will leverage emerging technology and predictive analytics to deliver a transport management system that is capable of coordinating across all modes of transport in NSW. When implemented, it will be the first of its kind in the world.
The new system will integrate with other technologies to analyse traffic and transport data from a number of sources, including public transport operators and traffic lights, to develop data-driven models that improve efficiency and operation of transport management programs, provide decision support to operators, ease congestion and minimise environmental impact.
G+T’s Technology + Digital team, led by partners Lesley Sutton and Andrew Hii and supported by Special Counsel Melissa Fai and lawyers Kevin Stewart and Linda Baranov, partnered with the TfNSW legal team on all legal aspects of the project.
