Gilbert + Tobin has appointed six new partners and six special counsel across a range of specialties, effective 1 July 2017.

Three of the newly promoted partners are in the firm’s Corporate Advisory practice.

Elizabeth Hill is a corporate transactions lawyer with deep experience in domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions.

Alex Kauye has broad corporate transactions expertise and has played a key role on several of the most high profile and complex transactions in Australia in recent years.

Peter Reeves is a market-leading practitioner in financial services regulation and funds management. He leads the firm’s FinTech practice.

Gilbert + Tobin’s Banking + Infrastructure team welcomed two new partners:   

David Kirkland works on a diverse range of banking and infrastructure transactions (with a particular focus on acquisition financing) acting for sponsors, borrowers and lenders.

Adela Smith has a broad practice advising sponsors, borrowers and lenders on leveraged acquisition transactions, infrastructure and project financing.

The firm’s Chief Operating Officer Sam Nickless was also promoted to partner. Sam leads the firm’s operational functions as well as working closely with the partners on the firm’s overall strategic direction. He has a particular focus on the firm’s innovation and technology agenda and collaborating with clients on these areas.

Gilbert + Tobin also announced the promotion of six new special counsel including Banking + Infrastructure lawyer Rachel Jones, Geoff Petersen in its Competition + Regulation group, Adam Musgrave in Corporate Advisory (Tax) and Melissa Fai, Andrew Hii and Albert Yuen in its Technology, Media + Telecommunications group.
