On 4 December 2017, the Treasurer directed the ACCC to conduct a “world first” public inquiry into the impact of digital platform services on the state of competition in media and advertising services markets in Australia.
Paula is a partner in Gilbert + Tobin's Competition + Regulation group.
She advises on competition law matters including merger clearances, investigations and the competition law issues affecting joint ventures and other complex transactions. She provides ongoing strategic and commercial advice to clients in the financial services, payments, media and entertainment industries, as well as clients in manufacturing and the petroleum industry.
Paula also specialises in financial services regulatory matters, advising on licensing, disclosure, anti-money laundering, privacy and consumer protection issues. She also works closely with clients in the payment systems industry, advising on investigations and regulatory reform processes, as well as advising in relation to new card and payment products.
Paula has represented clients in their interactions with the ACCC, the RBA, APRA, ASIC and AUSTRAC.
Prior to joining the firm, Paula worked for a major law firm where she advised on trade practices and intellectual property issues.
