Steven is a partner in Gilbert + Tobin's Litigation group specialising in commercial litigation.
Steven has specialised in commercial litigation for more than 25 years. He has a wide-ranging practice acting for corporations and individuals in large, often mission critical, litigation, commissions of inquiry, and regulatory investigations. His dispute resolution experience covers many fields of law and commerce, including contract, company and securities law, competition and consumer law, telecommunications, food regulation, information technology, film, television and entertainment, and administrative law. Steven has litigated in the Federal and High Courts, and a number of State Supreme Courts and tribunals. He has represented clients in international arbitrations and investigations including ASIC and the ACCC investigations, as well as in Royal Commissions and other Commissions of inquiry.
Steven is also an active proponent of alternate dispute resolution where this will advance clients’ commercial objectives. He has been involved in numerous mediations and arbitrations.
Steven has been named in the Best Lawyers list for Litigation every year since 2009, and is identified as a leading litigator by Chambers Asia Pacific 2015, Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2015 and Benchmark Asia Pacific 2014.
Steven has a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and a Masters of Laws from the University of Sydney. He has been admitted to the bar in New Zealand and is a member of the American Bar Association.
