G+T has advised Achieve Australia in connection with the business and assets of Focal Community Services (Focal) transitioning to Achieve Australia, helping secure the long-term continuity of disability support services for participants, families and carers across the Ipswich region.
Achieve Australia is a for-purpose, NDIS-registered provider that has delivered accommodation and services to people with disability since 1952. It operates across Greater Sydney, Northern Rivers region of NSW and South East Queensland.
Established in 1974, Focal has been a longstanding not-for-profit disability provider in the Ipswich region. The transition provides certainty for participants and employees, while preserving Focal’s longstanding contribution to the local community.
The transition is significant for the disability services sector, supporting the long-term continuity of essential NDIS supports for participants, families, employees and the Ipswich community at a time of significant change in the operating environment for NDIS providers.
G+T acted as legal adviser to Achieve Australia on all aspects of the transfer.
The G+T team was led by partner Elizabeth Wighton and lawyer Neha Sharma, with key contributions from Amanda Hempel, Jo Bayes and Ammara Ijaz on property matters, and Spiro Papadolias, Jonathan Mo and Tejas Chaudhry on financing matters.
Elizabeth Wighton said:
We are proud to have advised Achieve Australia on this important transition. It delivers continuity and certainty for participants, employees and the broader community, and we are pleased to have supported Achieve Australia in sustaining Focal’s programs and supports while preserving its longstanding community legacy
