Gilbert + Tobin is pleased to have successfully represented Ottawa, Canada, based Shopify Inc in Federal Court patent proceedings against Enterprise Glue Pty Ltd (Enterprise).  The technology in issue relates to applications for conducting e-commerce transactions on social networking sites.

In August 2015, Enterprise commenced patent infringement proceedings against Shopify.  Shopify denied infringement and, by cross-claim, asserted that the relevant claims of the patents were invalid. 

After Shopify filed its evidence in the proceedings, Enterprise discontinued its case and agreed to orders revoking the claims of its patents in issue.
