Luke Woodward, Partner

Luke is head of the firm's Competition and Regulation Group and advises and represents clients on:

ACCC acquisition and merger clearances.

Competition and consumer law investigations and prosecutions.

Infrastructure regulation, including in the telecommunications, gas, electricity, water, airports, sea ports and rail industries in Australia.

Prior to joining the firm in 2000, Luke held senior positions at the ACCC as General Counsel, Executive General Manager, Compliance Division (responsible for enforcement) and Senior Assistant Commissioner, responsible for mergers and asset sales.

His experience includes the conduct and oversight of major competition law litigation including responsibility within the ACCC, and in private practice, representing clients on a number of leading price fixing, misuse of market power, mergers and joint venture cases.

Luke is recognised as leading lawyer in competition by numerous publications and directories including Chambers Global, International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers, PLC Which Lawyer and Best Lawyers.

Luke has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the John F Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, as well as degrees in economics and law (with honours) from the University of Sydney.
