G+T is pleased to have advised APA Group (ASX Code: APA) (APA) on the signing of a Design and Development Agreement and Project Development and Gas Transport and Services terms sheets for new twin 23-kilometre natural gas pipelines with the ability to potentially convert into a hydrogen service in the future (Pipeline). The Pipeline will connect APA’s ‘Roma to Brisbane’ transmission pipeline to a new hydrogen-ready, natural gas Peaking Power Plant proposed to be developed by CS Energy at the Kogan Clean Energy Hub near Chinchilla (Brigalow Plant).
The full form Project Development and Gas Transport and Services Agreements remain subject to negotiations between the parties and internal approvals.
The Pipeline is targeted for completion in mid to late-2026 and will provide supply to the Brigalow Plant. This forms a critical component to Queensland’s decarbonisation efforts whilst operating in high demand periods to support variable renewable energy and underpinning energy security in Queensland.
APA is a leading ASX listed energy infrastructure business which owns and/or manages and operates a diverse, $26 billion portfolio of gas, electricity, solar and wind assets. The Pipeline will be added to APA’s existing 15,000 kilometres of natural gas pipelines that are integral to Australia’s gas transmission infrastructure.
