APA will deliver critical infrastructure and services designed to meet the current and future energy needs of CS Energy’s peaking power plant at the Kogan Clean Energy Hub. CS Energy’s peaking power plant is a proposed natural gas power station that will provide firming capacity for peak electricity demand periods and complement variable wind and solar energy. As Australia continues to integrate renewable energy sources at scale, firming infrastructure is vital to maintaining reliability and accelerating the energy transition.

The project involved a suite of complex, interrelated agreements and engagement between APA and CS Energy (a Queensland Government owned corporation). The deal adds to Gilbert + Tobin’s strong track record advising on innovative energy projects across Australia, particularly those at the intersection of gas and renewables.

Dan Solomon, led the project development agreement work, supported by Lawyer, Lillian Campion.

Senior Energy and Infrastructure Partner, Christopher Flynn, led the gas transmission and services agreement work for G+T, supported by Special Counsel Christopher Marchesi, Lawyers Roman Petrovsky and Marina Hough and Consultants Diarmuid O’Carroll and Sandy McDougall.

Partner, Lixian Liang, led on the connection agreement, with support from Consultant, Diarmuid O’Carroll. Regulatory advice was led by Partner, Geoff Petersen.

Christopher Flynn commented:

"This project is a great example of how industry and government can work together to enable the energy transition. We’re proud to have supported APA on this project and we congratulate the APA and CS Energy teams on this landmark project."
