The G+T team worked closely with Paramount Skydance and overseas counsel to navigate the ACCC’s rigorous Phase I review under Australia’s new merger regime. The G+T team’s deep competition law expertise and merger experience in the media and entertainment industries, combined with their strategic approach to regulatory engagement, were instrumental in achieving clearance. The ACCC granted approval ahead of its Phase 1 review timeframe – less than two months after filing in April 2026.
Competition, Consumer and Market Regulation partner Elizabeth Avery, alongside special counsel Sarah Lynch led the G+T team, with support from lawyers Courtney Olden, Adrian Vipond, Amy Van Dongen and graduate Emily Dong.
Partner Elizabeth Avery said:
We are delighted to have secured ACCC clearance for this landmark global transaction in the context of the rapidly transforming global entertainment industry. The review moved at pace and demanded close engagement with the Commission throughout and global alignment across several filing jurisdictions. Our team’s ability to anticipate and address complex competition issues across media markets with thorough evidence-based analysis was critical to the outcome. This result reflects the outstanding commitment of everyone on the team and builds on our successful work for Paramount in securing ACCC clearance for its acquisition of Skydance Media in 2024.
