G+T’s Competition & Regulation group is further extending its market-leading practice with an internal partner promotion.

Sydney-based Geoff Petersen will be promoted to partner of Gilbert + Tobin’s Competition, Consumer + Market Regulation team from 1 January 2023, as a reflection of his market-leading expertise in energy and infrastructure regulation.

Geoff joined the firm in September 2009, with a prior career as an industrial economist.  He advises on economic regulation, competition and access matters in a range of infrastructure sectors, specialising in energy regulation and infrastructure access.

Elizabeth Avery, G+T’s Competition & Regulation Group Head said, “We are delighted to be announcing Geoff’s promotion to partnership.  Geoff’s appointment reflects his market leading profile advising on significant energy and critical infrastructure projects focused on competition, access and regulatory issues. As an economist and a competition lawyer, he is strongly positioned to advise clients in regulated industries. We are excited to make this appointment, further supporting the depth and breadth of the market leading competition and regulation team in Australia.”

The promotion brings the total number of partners in the Competition & Regulatory Group to 11 partners, with 4 special counsel and over 50 dedicated competition lawyers.
