Gilbert + Tobin has assisted with the establishment of the Chumpy Pullin Foundation as a public ancillary fund and registered charity, which is endorsed to receive tax deductible donations.

Established in memory of the late, Alex “Chumpy” Pullin, the Foundation aims to raise funds to support eligible organisations, with a focus on providing financial assistance and development opportunities to Australian snowboarders. The Foundation’s mission will be to address the barriers experienced by financially and socially disadvantaged individuals wanting to progress in the sport to become world-class athletes, who would not have the opportunity to do so otherwise.

Chumpy, an Australian snowboarder, was a charismatic icon of Australian sport, and his love of family and adventure resonated through his actions and approach to everyday life. The Foundation aims to honour Chumpy’s legacy by having a meaningful impact on people’s lives through the provision of support and structure for both the current and the next generation of athletes.

Charities + Social Sector Partner, Darren Fittler and Senior Lawyer, Elizabeth Lathlean, who led the establishment process said: “It has been a privilege to assist with the establishment of the Foundation and allow for Chumpy’s legacy to be honoured in this way.”

Darren and Elizabeth were supported by consultant, Kate Pipe and graduate, Karla Dunbar.

Co-founder, Benjamin Johnston, said: “The Foundation is setting out to break down barriers that have been in place that have historically been prohibitive to thorough participation in snow sports in Australia. The Foundation will follow the mantra of "Making Never Possible". Chumpy was a special individual that is well revered, so honouring his legacy is a special opportunity to carry on his values and beliefs to create a better community.”
