Gilbert + Tobin is proud to announce that litigation partner Janet Whiting has received an Order of Australia in the 2015 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Janet was recognised as a Member (AM) in the General Division for her significant service to the community through contributions to the arts, health and major events sectors, and as a legal professional.

Throughout her career Janet has been a director on not-for-profit boards and has held leading roles in the arts, health and tourism sectors. Such roles, past and present, include Deputy Chairman of Victorian Major Events Company, President of the Arts Centre Melbourne, Director of Tourism Australia, Bell Shakespeare and the Royal Women’s Hospital and Chairman of the Royal Women’s Hospital Foundation.

Managing Partner Danny Gilbert said, “I am delighted that Janet has received this well-deserved recognition. Not only for her great lawyering capacities but also for her broader contribution to Australian society.”

Janet’s inclusion in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List follows her listing earlier this year in the 2015 Victorian Honour Roll of Women. The honour roll celebrates the achievements of remarkable Victorian women in their field of expertise.

Janet is one of the pre-eminent litigators in Australia and heads Gilbert + Tobin’s Litigation practice in Melbourne.
