Alisa Chak

Biography

Alisa is a special counsel in our Corporate Advisory group.

She advises some of Australia’s leading fund managers and financial institutions on their fundraisings, new ventures and Australia's foreign investment laws. She brings private equity expertise and experience across a range of asset classes, including venture capital, private credit and infrastructure, amongst others.

She is recognised for her expertise in foreign investment regulation, including the structuring of funds and investments and on navigating Foreign Investment Review Board matters.

Before joining Gilbert + Tobin, Alisa worked in the New York office of a US firm in their investment funds group and previously in the Australian and Asian offices of a UK-based firm.

Alisa is qualified in Western Australia and New York.

  • Numerous Australian and international sponsors on establishing and managing their private equity funds and related investment activities.
  • Numerous Australian and international sponsors and investors in connection with their foreign investment approvals in a variety of sectors.
  • One of Australia’s largest financial sponsors on its third global infrastructure fund with expected value of $2 billion.
  • Next Capital on its first continuation fund for its SilverChef investment, its fifth buyout fund valued at $375 million, and various co-investments, secondaries and foreign investment regulatory matters.
  • Quadrant Private Equity on its seventh buyout fund valued at $1.24 billion, its second growth fund valued at $530 million and its third growth fund valued at $660 million.
  • Allegro Funds on its fourth buyout fund valued at $750 million.
  • Pemba Capital Partners on its second buyout fund of approximately $380 million.
  • Fortitude Investment Partners on its first evergreen fund and first buyout fund.
  • Several Australian credit managers on establishing their credit funds.
  • Several Australian venture capital managers on establishing their venture funds.
  • An Australian energy and resources specialist on establishing its funds management business and inaugural resources fund.
