Amelia McKellar

Biography

Amelia is a special counsel in our Competition, Consumer and Market Regulation group. 

She has extensive Australian and global experience across the spectrum of competition and consumer protection law, including in relation to merger and enforcement investigatory work. Amelia has particular expertise in complex multijurisdictional and domestic merger review and consumer protection matters.

Prior to joining Gilbert + Tobin, Amelia was an antitrust associate in the London office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer practising in EU and UK competition and consumer law for over three years.

Amelia regularly advises global and major clients in a diverse range of industries including retail and consumer goods, aerospace and aviation, financial services, agriculture, infrastructure, information technology, financial services and energy.

  • Hewlett Packard Enterprise on ACCC merger clearance aspects of its proposed acquisition of Juniper Networks. 

  • Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking on global and Australian merger clearance aspects of its acquisition of Link Group.

  • Orica on the global and Australian merger clearance aspects of its now completed acquisition of Terra Insights .

  • Grays eCommerce Group in ACCC proceedings alleging false, misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to the sale of thousands of motor vehicles on the Grays.com auction website.

  • Virtus Heath on ACCC merger clearance aspects and interlocutory injunction proceedings relating to its proposed acquisition of Adora Fertility.

  • MYOB on a range of matters including ACCC merger clearance aspects relating to its now completed acquisition of GreatSoft.

  • Aon on the ACCC merger clearance aspects of its proposed acquisition of Willis Towers Watson.

  • Siris Capital and Web.com on the ACCC merger clearance aspects of its now completed acquisition of Dreamscape and proposed acquisition of Webcentral Group.

  • GrainCorp on a range of matters, including on ACCC merger clearance aspects relating to the now completed sale of GrainCorp Liquid Terminals to ANZ Terminals.

  • Hewlett Packard throughout the ACCC investigation and subsequent litigation relating to the company’s representations as to consumer and retailer rights under the ACL.

  • Australian Power & Gas through the ACCC investigation and subsequent litigation relating to the company’s representations and unsolicited marketing to consumer under the ACL.
