Claire Rowe

Biography

Claire is a special counsel in our Banking and Projects group.

Claire is an experienced banking and finance lawyer who prides herself on providing outstanding technical expertise and values the development of enduring client relationships, partnering with clients to develop outcomes which are bespoke, practical and commercial.

Claire is experienced in a broad range of banking and finance transactions including project finance in the mining and resource sector, corporate debt facilities, acquisition finance, equipment finance and real estate finance. Claire also has experience in offtake finance, stream financing, convertible loans and derivative transactions. Claire predominantly assists borrowers to navigate complex financing transactions, however, her experience also extends to acting for lenders (including non-bank lenders) in relation to senior debt and mezzanine finance across a range of industries.

Prior to joining G+T, Claire was a Director at Wright Legal, a leading boutique banking and finance practice in Western Australia and prior to that a senior lawyer in the banking and finance team at MinterEllison. 

Claire holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science) from the University of Notre Dame Australia.

Experience

Claire’s experience includes advising:

  • Bellevue Gold Limited on the $200 million project financing with Macquarie Bank Limited and hedging for the Bellevue Gold Project.

  • An ASX listed national developer of residential and commercial real estate developments in relation to its $330 million corporate facility provided by three major Australian banks.

  • Northern Star Resources Limited on $1billion+ syndicated corporate facilities and hedging arrangements.

  • Saracen Mineral Holdings Limited on $500 million debt facilities (A$450 million term debt facility, $45 million revolving facility and A$5 million contingent instruments facility) with BNP Paribas, Citibank N.A. and Westpac Banking Corporation. The term debt facility was used towards the funding of Saracen’s acquisition of a 50% interest in the KCGM Joint Venture from Barrick Gold Corporation, by purchase of the shares in Barrick (Australia Pacific) Pty Limited for a total price of US$750 million.

  • A private company providing customer experience solutions in relation to a $63 million secured receivables working capital facility with a major Australian bank.

  • An ASX listed company owning a zinc, lead and copper project in relation to its US$60 million secured project financing and US$16 million silver metal stream.
