Diarmuid O'Carroll

Biography

Diarmuid is a foreign lawyer admitted in Ireland and England and Wales in our Energy, Resources and Infrastructure group.

He advises on M&A, joint ventures and shareholder arrangements, project development, commercial contracting and offtake and energy supply.

Diarmuid has a particular focus on energy and infrastructure projects, having worked on numerous transactions for sponsors, developers, funders and financiers, both on greenfield and brownfield assets. He also has experience negotiating power purchase agreements for both supplier and offtaker.

Experience

Diarmuid’s experience includes advising:

  • Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners on the development and offtake arrangements in respect of the 750MW Supernode BESS.

  • ACE Power on its 50/50 JV with Osaka Gas for a portfolio of solar and BESS assets in Queensland and NSW. 

  • Squadron on the Uungula Wind Farm, in particular revenue contracting including power purchase agreement and LTESA and whole of Project due diligence for financial close. 

  • Copenhagen Infrastructure Fund (CIP) on its joint venture arrangements with Statkraft in connection with the acquisition of a 750MW offshore wind development in Ireland, including advising on the new Irish offshore renewable energy support scheme (ORESS).

  • EirGrid plc, the Irish state-owned electricity transmission operator, on the procurement of circa 450 MW of temporary emergency generation.

  • On the structuring and funding of the €1.6b Celtic Interconnector, a 700MW HVDC submarine power cable linking Ireland and France.
