Biography

Maria is a special counsel in our Corporate Advisory group.

She specialises in private mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, foreign investment in Australia and corporate governance. She has a particular focus in the telecommunications, technology and media sectors.

Maria holds a LL.M. from the University of Technology Sydney. She is admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and in Germany.

Experience

Maria’s experience includes advising:

  • Telstra on the sale of Foxtel to DAZN.

  • Telstra in relation to its global AI joint venture with Accenture.

  • Telstra on its acquisition, in partnership with the Australian Government, of Digicel Pacific, the biggest mobile operator in the South Pacific region.

  • Telstra in relation to its acquisition of Boost Mobile.

  • Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets and its managed funds (MIRA) and Aware Super on its acquisition of Vocus Group by scheme of arrangement.

  • Telstra on its sponsorship and media rights arrangements with the AFL.

  • Telstra on its acquisition of the Versent group.

  • Telstra on its data analytics joint venture with Quantium, majority owned by Woolworths.

  • Telstra on its acquisition of a ~51% stake in Fetch TV.
