Biography

Paddy is a special counsel in our Disputes and Investigations group.

He advises clients across all sectors, with a strong focus on the financial services industry. Paddy is known for helping clients navigate complex and evolving regulatory environments, offering end-to-end support across the spectrum of front-end compliance, internal dispute resolution, regulatory investigations and enforcement action.

Paddy also has extensive experience in high-stakes commercial litigation, including long-running and reputationally significant disputes in the Supreme Courts and Federal Court. His expertise spans interlocutory applications, trial work and appellate proceedings.

  • OnePath Custodians (Insignia Financial Group) in ASIC investigation and civil penalty proceedings alleging misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to member communications.

  • A financial services firm in class action proceedings involving alleged breaches of duties owed to superannuation members.

  • Insignia Financial subsidiaries in ASIC investigations and client claims involving a former adviser, including support for internal remediation efforts.

  • RI Advice in Federal Court proceedings brought by ASIC concerning adviser conduct scrutinised during the Hayne Royal Commission.

  • Directors of a national sporting organisation in high-profile defamation litigation in superior state and federal courts.

  • A financial services company on multiple ASIC investigations and surveillances, as well as providing strategic advice on its superannuation and advisory operations.
