Tamaryn Leach

Biography

Tamaryn is a lawyer in our Financial Services Regulatory group.

She has extensive experience advising banks, private lenders, credit intermediaries and insurers on complex regulatory frameworks, including the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Banking Act and AML/CTF regime. Her practice covers end‑to‑end licensing strategy and execution (AFSL and ACL), prudential and conduct obligations under APRA and ASIC regimes and regulatory change projects, including FAR, DDO, UCT, breach reporting and industry codes including the Banking Code of Practice and ePayments Code.

Tamaryn regularly drafts, reviews and negotiates regulatory disclosures, policies and compliance frameworks, including product governance arrangements, financial services guides and internal risk controls. She supports clients through regulatory investigations and enforcement matters, including preparing responses to notices and advising on remediation strategies and liaising with ASIC, APRA and AUSTRAC on licensing applications, regulatory inquiries and thematic reviews.

Her practice also includes advising on cross-border issues including sanctions and privacy compliance such as credit reporting requirements and APP 5 collection statements.
Tamaryn works closely with cross-practice teams on complex, multi-disciplinary matters including high-value M&A transactions involving financial services entities. She conducts due diligence, identifying licensing risks and compliance exposures for prospective buyers.

She also has complementary experience in funds management, advising on fund structuring, establishment and governance, disclosure obligations and emerging ESG and sustainable finance developments.
