    Biography

    Caryn leads the Gilbert + Tobin Legal Service Innovation team and G+T Innovate. These teams provide specialised services to support our legal services delivery; and innovate to deliver new tools and services benefiting Gilbert + Tobin’s practice and our clients.

    Caryn’s role encompasses responsibility for lawyers and business professionals working across Transformation, Legal Informatics, Legal Project Management, Knowledge Management and GTDocs.

    A former practising corporate lawyer, Caryn brings 18 years of experience in legal, knowledge management, legal technology, change management, transformation and solution design to her role. Caryn works with a variety of ASX 20 in-house legal clients through G+T Innovate to explore opportunities for legal triage, better workflow management and automated service delivery.

    Caryn is a regular speaker at global legal technology and innovation conferences and was recognised as one of Australia’s top legal innovators in the Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2018. She was awarded “Innovator of the Year” at the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards 2021 as well as the Women in Law Awards 2020 and 2019.  Caryn is the Co-Chair of the Centre for Legal Innovation, a member of the CEBIT 2019 Future of Industry Steering Committee and is a GROWL (Global Rise of Women in LegalTech) mentor.

    Under Caryn’s leadership, Gilbert + Tobin has been recognised as a market leader, including most recently for: Winner of the Excellence in Technology & Innovation at the Australasian Law Awards 2021, ‘Most Innovative Firm’ in the 2021 AFR Client Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row and ‘Most Innovative Law Firm in the Asia-Pacific’ and ‘Innovation in Technology’ at the Financial Times Asia Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2019.
