Biography

Caryn is a partner and leads the Legal Service Innovation Team and G+T Innovate. 

These teams provide specialised services to support Gilbert + Tobin’s legal service delivery, and also deliver new tools and services benefiting the firm’s practice and clients.

Caryn’s role encompasses responsibility for lawyers and business support staff working across Innovation and Legal Transformation, Knowledge Management, Legal Technology and Legal Project Management. A former practising corporate M&A lawyer, Caryn brings 16 years of experience in legal, knowledge management, legal technology, change management, transformation and solution design to her role. Caryn works with a variety of in-house legal clients through G+T Innovate to explore opportunities for legal transformation, better workflow management and automated service delivery.

Caryn is a regular speaker at global legal technology and innovation conferences and was recognised as one of Australia’s top legal innovators in the Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2018. Caryn is also a member of the Steering Group for the Chief Innovation Officers Forum, Australia, a member of the CEBIT 2019 Future of Industry Steering Committee and is a GROWL (Global Rise of Women in LegalTech) mentor.

Under Caryn’s leadership, Gilbert + Tobin was named Most Innovative Law Firm in Asia-Pacific 2019 at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards and Most Innovative Firm for the 2nd year in a row at the Australian Financial Review Client Choice 2019 Awards, researched by Beaton.

Caryn was recognised as one of Australia’s top legal innovators.
