Jason Oliver

Biography

Jason is a special counsel in our Disputes and Investigations group.

He has extensive experience in royal commissions and inquiries, commercial disputes, technology disputes, shareholder and corporate governance disputes, class actions, contentious regulatory matters, investigations including tax investigations, white collar crime and minimising financial and reputational risk. 

Jason has practised in multiple jurisdictions in Australia and internationally.  He has acted for the Australian Government and its agencies, as well as several major corporate clients and private sector firms.  His experience includes acting on numerous highly complex and high value disputes, regulatory matters and investigations for clients in the professional services, technology, telecommunications and digital, manufacturing and FMCG, banking and financial services, energy and mining, and health care sectors.

Experience

Jason’s experience includes:

  • Acting as Solicitor Assisting the Royal Commission into the Robodebt Scheme.

  • Acting for the Australian Government and its departments and agencies in their response to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.

  • Acting in a number of significant commercial disputes, M&A disputes and technology and digital disputes, for a range of clients including Orica, Telstra, Temenos, Grain Growers, and Amart, among several others.

  • Acting for a range of corporate and professional services clients in responding to significant Australian Taxation Office investigations and enforcement actions.

  • Acting for a range of corporate and professional services clients in responding to significant ASIC investigations, disciplinary proceedings and related enforcement actions.

  • Advising a range of private capital clients, technology clients, fintechs and startups in relation to M&A, fundraising and finance litigation risk issues.

  • Advising a range of clients in the technology, professional services, health, government, vocational education and training and finance sectors in relation to contentious regulatory, data privacy and litigation risk issues.

  • Advising a group of government departments, in connection with advice relating to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.
