As Australia moves towards a cashless society, bank system failures are having an increasing impact on customers and the economy. The Payment Systems Board will soon put into action the RBA's threats to intervene in bank system outages.
Melissa is a special counsel in the Technology + Digital group.
Melissa specialises in complex commercial contracting arrangements. Her practice focuses on complex outsourcing, IT and related procurement or supply transactions, from both a customer and supplier perspective, including IT transformation projects and business process outsourcing.
As part of her practice, Melissa also advises clients on their privacy and data protection compliance obligations in relation to their commercial and marketing practices and data usage requirements.
She also has significant experience supporting M&A transactions, advising on the technology and operational separation and transition issues associated with large and complex M&A transactions.
Melissa first joined Gilbert + Tobin in 2003. In December 2007, Melissa left the firm to work as a Managing Associate for Linklaters in London, and rejoined Gilbert + Tobin on her return in early 2016. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Law (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from Macquarie University.
