Richard L'Estrange

    Biography

    Richard is a special counsel in Gilbert + Tobin’s Competition, Consumer + Market Regulation team. 

    Richard is experienced across the spectrum of Australian competition law, including assiting clients in relation to transactional matters, investigations and strategic advisory work.  Richard has a particular focus on complex merger clearance matters often involving multi-juridictional regulatory processes.  He has extensive experience negotiating and managing statutory undertaking remedies with the ACCC.  Richard has worked with clients in a diverse range of industries, and has particular expertise working with private equity clients and clients in the financial services sector.

    Prior to commencing at Gilbert + Tobin, Richard worked for four years in the London office of international law firm, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.  During that time, Richard also undertook a secondment in the firm’s Washington D.C. office.

    Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Sydney.  Richard is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
